Event Details

When Mark Ridout was 4 years old, he was taken to see Billy Joel play at Wembley Stadium. He fell asleep standing up.

UK-born, Australia-based singer-songwriter Mark Ridout first performed on stage, years later, becoming a regular on the London songwriter circuit, where he supported Ed Sheeran (before he got huge) & Kate Miller-Heidke, at renowned venues such as The Troubadour & The Bedford. By day, he worked in secure psychiatric hospitals & as a music therapist.

Since then he has played thousands of gigs in Europe, America, Asia & Australia – moving to live in Byron Bay in 2010. He then released ‘Dive Into the Water’ – a 2 part EP set – & played ‘Splendour in the Grass’, Mullumbimby Music Festival, Byron Surf Fest & Brighton Fringe Festival (UK).

Before that, not long after the Billy Joel experience, he spent his early years playing drums in sweaty rock bands, learning the guitar chords & writing poetry on the back of school books.

His voice has been described as “compelling & hugely expressive” (Hotpress Magazine, UK), & his song ‘All my Sides’ was featured in the Australian film; Weavil (2018).
